Basic Function/Overview: The Sous Chef provides an outstanding experience for our guests by helping plan and preparing food in our kitchens. The chef is responsible for helping ensure the quality and variety of the menu meets the needs and expectations of our guests. Food preparation as well as some administrative duties are integral parts of this position.Essential Tasks and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:Ensures the kitchen runs smoothly. Prepares menu items with consistent results with ease and efficiency. Helps with the preparation of food for cooking or serving, such as cutting vegetables and preparing sauces. Comfortable working in a fast-paced and often stressful work environment. Passion and enthusiasm for the food industry. Follows orders from supervisors. Assists with unloading, inspection, and storage of raw ingredients and supplies.Stocks workstations and ensures cleanliness by covering, labeling, and dating food items, then storing them properly.Handling kitchen cutlery efficiently and safely.Checks inventory stocks and the quality of supplies. Complies with all health and safety regulations. Assists the head chef with service as necessary.Required Skills and Abilities: Follow directions to the exact requirements of the Head Chef.Adhere to strict deadlines to help the kitchen run smoothly.Ability to work cohesively with others.Must be able to use kitchenware safely and properly.Required Education and Experience: High school diploma/equivalent or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics, such as food safety.Must be 18 years or older.Previous cooking/kitchen experience is required.Food preparation experience is required.Physical Demands: Prolonged periods of standing and walking.Safe knife and cutlery handling.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.This is for the summer 2024 season with the potential to be hired seasonally for winter 2024/2025.
